Terms of Use
Plain English. If something here is unclear, email us and we'll explain it directly.
The short version: SafeHome Registry is a reference directory — not a contractor, not a referral agency, not a professional advisor. We connect people with information. Any decision to hire a contractor is entirely yours, and you should verify credentials, insurance, and permits directly before signing anything.
1. Who These Terms Apply To
These Terms of Use apply to all visitors and users of safehomeregistry.com, including families searching for contractors, care coordinators using the directory as a resource, contractors claiming or using profiles, and organizations exploring partnership.
By using this website, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.
2. What SafeHome Registry Is
SafeHome Registry is an independent informational reference directory. We aggregate and present publicly available information about aging-in-place home modification contractors, local grant programs, and regional housing resources across the Southern United States.
We are:
- An informational reference utility — like a specialized directory or reference library
- A platform that facilitates direct communication between families and local contractors through our matching service
- A publisher of regional grant program information sourced from public .gov and agency sources
We are not:
- A licensed contractor, builder, or home modification service provider
- A referral agency that guarantees contractor quality, availability, or pricing
- A legal, medical, financial, or professional advisor of any kind
- A party to any agreement between a user and a contractor listed in this directory
- A representative, affiliate, or endorser of any contractor listed in this directory
3. Directory Accuracy and Limitations
We make reasonable efforts to maintain accurate, current directory information. However:
- Contractor listings are aggregated from regional public sources and may not reflect real-time changes in business status, licensing, or availability
- Listing inclusion is not guaranteed or permanent. SafeHome Registry updates its directory periodically using automated data systems. Contractors may be added, removed, or updated at any time as part of routine maintenance. Inclusion in a previous version of the directory does not guarantee inclusion in future versions. Contractors seeking consistent, guaranteed visibility may contact us about featured listing options.
- Customer review scores and review volume counts reflect a static snapshot of publicly available data at the time of our regional indexing. They are not real-time metrics and may not reflect a contractor's current public standing. A contractor's score or review count may have changed — positively or negatively — since our last index update.
- CAPS (Certified Aging-in-Place Specialist) credential flags are based on cross-reference against the NAHB member index at the time of listing — they may not reflect real-time changes to a contractor's certification status
- Phone numbers, service areas, and contact information may become outdated between directory updates
- Grant program information is sourced from public agency sources and may not reflect current funding levels, eligibility changes, or program closures
SafeHome Registry makes no representations or warranties — express or implied — about the accuracy, completeness, or timeliness of any information in this directory. Use of this directory does not substitute for your own due diligence. Verify all information directly with the relevant source before making any decision.
4. No Verification of Contractors
SafeHome Registry does not verify, and expressly disclaims responsibility for verifying:
- Current state contractor licensing status
- Active general liability or workers' compensation insurance coverage
- Municipal or county permit compliance
- Past workmanship quality or customer satisfaction
- Current business operation status
- Background checks or criminal history
- VA HISA grant processing history or capability
Before hiring any contractor: Verify their current license status through your state licensing board (use the "Verify license" link on their listing), request a current certificate of insurance directly from their insurer, check references, and confirm permit requirements with your local municipality.
5. Quote Request and Matching Service
Our quote request form connects families and care coordinators with local aging-in-place contractors who serve their ZIP code and match their stated project type. This is an introduction service — not a referral guarantee, not a price guarantee, and not an endorsement of any contractor who responds.
- SafeHome Registry is not a party to any agreement, quote, contract, or transaction that results from a quote request submission
- We do not screen contractors who receive quote requests beyond their appearance in our directory
- We do not guarantee response time, pricing, availability, or quality of service from any contractor who receives a request
- Contractors who respond to quote requests are independent businesses — not employees or agents of SafeHome Registry
- Any dispute arising from a service engagement is between the user and the contractor directly
By submitting a quote request, you authorize SafeHome Registry to share your contact information and project details with relevant local contractors in your area for the purpose of responding to your request.
6. Premium Contractor Profiles
Contractors who upgrade to a Premium or Elite Profile do so through a fixed subscription arrangement. The following terms apply:
- Premium profile status does not constitute an endorsement of the contractor's licensing, insurance, or service quality
- SafeHome Registry reserves the right to remove or suspend a premium profile if the contractor is found to have provided false information, has had their license revoked, or has engaged in conduct that is harmful to directory users
- Subscription fees are non-refundable except where required by applicable law
- Contractors are responsible for ensuring the information in their profile is accurate and up to date
- SafeHome Registry may update profile tiers, features, and pricing with reasonable notice
- A premium subscription does not guarantee a specific number of leads, inquiries, or customer contacts
7. Grant Program Information
Grant program information published in this directory — including VA HISA Grant details, state Medicaid waiver programs, CDBG programs, and local emergency repair programs — is sourced from publicly available government and agency sources.
This information is provided for reference only. It is not legal, financial, or professional advice. Grant eligibility, income limits, funding availability, and application requirements change. Contact the administering agency directly for current program details before making any financial or housing decision based on grant availability.
8. No Professional Advice
Nothing on safehomeregistry.com constitutes legal, medical, financial, architectural, engineering, or professional advice of any kind. The information on this site — including home modification guidance, climate-specific material recommendations, and grant program summaries — is general reference information provided for educational purposes.
For decisions involving structural modifications, ADA compliance, flood zone engineering, VA benefits, or insurance coverage, consult a qualified professional in the relevant field.
9. Intellectual Property
The content, design, and structure of safehomeregistry.com — including written content, city page layouts, grant guides, and the SafeHome Registry name and identity — are the property of SafeHome Registry. You may not reproduce, scrape, republish, or commercially use our content without written permission.
Contractor business information (business names, phone numbers, service areas) included in listings is treated as publicly available business data. If you believe your business information has been listed inaccurately, contact us and we will correct or remove it promptly.
10. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, SafeHome Registry and its operators are not liable for:
- Any injury, property damage, financial loss, or other harm arising from your use of this directory or engagement with any contractor listed here
- Any inaccuracy in directory listings, grant program information, or CAPS credential flags
- Any failure by a contractor to perform, respond, or honor a quote
- Any dispute between you and a contractor arising from a service engagement
- Any reliance on information in this directory in making a housing, financial, or medical decision
Our aggregate liability for any claim arising from use of this site is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim, or $100 — whichever is greater.
11. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold SafeHome Registry harmless from any claims, damages, or costs (including reasonable attorney's fees) arising from your use of this site, your submission of inaccurate information through any form, or your violation of these Terms of Use.
12. Third-Party Links
This site links to state licensing board websites, VA.gov, and other government and nonprofit resources. We provide these links for user convenience. We are not responsible for the content, accuracy, or privacy practices of external sites.
13. Modifications to the Service and Terms
We may modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of this site at any time. We may update these Terms of Use as the directory grows. When we make meaningful changes, we will update the effective date at the top of this page. Continued use of the site after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
14. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution
These Terms of Use are governed by the laws of the State of Mississippi, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any dispute arising from these terms or your use of this site will be resolved in the courts of Harrison County, Mississippi, or through binding arbitration at our election.
15. Severability
If any provision of these Terms of Use is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue in full force and effect.
